Combat Canines: The DDoc Foundation is a non-profit organization based out of Fayetteville, North Carolina dedicated to helping our retired Military Working Dogs (MWD), Contract Working Dogs (CWD), and Law Enforcement (LE) K-9’s live a higher quality of life after retirement.
MWDs, CWDs, and LE K-9’s can be retired for a number of reasons such as old age, hip dysplasia (HD), Canine Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD), severe allergies, degenerative myelopathy (DM), or cancer and can often require frequent and costly visits to the veterinarian.
We believe that by helping with the financial side of the house, we relieve the added stress that families may feel and let them enjoy their new family member.
Our mission is simple; help the dogs! How do we do this? There are a variety of ways we can and do help them.
Sponsorship: If your dog is sponsored by us, we are available day or night for questions, advice, assistance with veterinary bills, or linking you up with a local trainer if our retiree is having some problems.
Transportation: While this is is not our sole purpose, we can assist in the transportation of your retired/retiring working dogs. We would also refer you to other organizations who focus on this to ensure smoother and easier transition for the dogs and for you.
Fundraising: We have an account for the dogs at all times, but sometimes a dog has a sudden, and expensive incident that may exceed our current balance. If this is the case we set up a separate fundraiser just for that dog. All the money from that fundraiser goes directly to that dog and is separate from the main account.
Education: We often attend local events and help to educate the public on the benefits and importance of the working dogs not only while serving, but what happens once they are retired. We put special emphasis on Canine Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD) and how it effects the dogs.
